How to scan a NSW Digital Drivers Licence

If you have received a text message from Scantek that requires you to verify your identity and wish to use an NSW Digital Driver License, the information below will help you complete the process.

You will need to have the following ready:

    • The Service NSW app installed on your phone with your Digital Driver License accessible.
    • A second, trusted mobile phone (e.g. belonging to a friend or family member) that is a late model device with a camera. Read our compatibility requirements for more details.

Steps


1.

Forward the Scantek SMS to a second, trusted mobile phone.

Open the Service NSW app on your phone > Select your driver's license > Tap the dots in the top right corner > Click "Sign in to a venue" (this opens a QR code scanner).

Open the Scantek link received in the SMS on the second mobile phone. Select the NSW Digital Drivers Licence document type. A QR code will now display.

Use your personal phone (with the NSW Drivers License) to scan the second phone (displaying the Scantek app)

Proceed to complete the identity verification process on the second device, including the selfie capture sequence if required.
