How to reset an iPad // re-enrol

This article is only relevant to devices already present in Jamf

Step 1: Device review (Gen 9 device process only)

Confirm the device is present in Jamf
Check to see if the Jamf certificate has expired as per below: 
- Open Jamf 
- Click on Devices
- Click on search inventory > search. 
- Click into the serial/ device name in Jamf
- Under Inventory tab > click on certificates  > Under "Status": Note the active/inactive status on the asset notes or in your ticket notes. 

Step 2: ITUNES APP or Mac device required. 

Using a cable, connect the device to a computer, if it is not a Mac device, please install itunes. 
- Connect the device to the computer 
- The device should prompt to either update or restore
- If you get the error that the device is managed by another user, proceed to step 3. 

Step 3: Recovery mode

If you got an error when connecting the device to your computer, disconnect the cable. 
- Turn off the device, once its off, hold down the power button AND the home button at the same time. 
- Note: sometimes it takes a few goes. 
- Keep holding the buttons down, until the apple symbol shows up, it should show advice to connect a cable. 
- Reconnect the device to your PC, it should prompt update or restore
- Select update (In the event the device cannot update, the only option is to restore)
- Note: Forced restore, means the device will have the latest IOS version, there is no option to select which version. 
- Allow the device to completely update/restore. 

Once the device updates, it should run through the setup.

Step 4: Setup the device 

- Select english as the language
- Leave everything as default 
- Connect to Wifi if no enrolled device is available nearby
- The device should state its owned by Scantek and will re-enroll itself into Jamf
- Once completed it will go into inventory.
